There are countless ways to greet a person, but these three words capture the essence of my journey—a journey that has spanned continents and cultures, shaping my view of the world and my creative vision. My name is Gioh Sung, and I began my life in South Korea as the vibrant 90s drew to a close. Growing up in the serene countryside, where the sound of flowing rivers echoed instead of the beat of "Gangnam Style," I learned early on the profound beauty of simplicity.
At the age of 10, I moved to Indonesia, and it was there that my passion for storytelling truly bloomed. While Korea taught me to appreciate the quiet elegance of life, Indonesia opened my eyes to a world brimming with color, rhythm, and diverse perspectives. It was in this cultural fusion that I found my voice as a creator, eager to craft stories that bridge differences and bring people together.
After graduating from UCSC with a degree in Film and Digital Media, I now embrace my role as both a creative innovator and a passionate educator. As a Film and Digital Media Specialist, I strive to push the boundaries of storytelling—experimenting with narrative structures, visual aesthetics, and immersive media. But perhaps my most fulfilling role is that of a teacher, where I have the privilege of guiding the next generation of filmmakers to discover their own creative voices.
I believe that film is more than just entertainment—it's a powerful tool for change. My goal is to inspire others to think beyond the conventional, to challenge their perceptions, and to engage with the world from a place of empathy and understanding. Through my work, I hope to create stories that encourage people to see beyond their differences and find common ground.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my journey. I look forward to creating with you, and together, we can continue to push the boundaries of what storytelling can achieve.
안녕하세요, Selamat, and Hello!
